Compassion plays a huge role in Surinder’s life. From her lifelong vegetarianism to her numerous volunteer roles in local nonprofits (including co-funding Global Faith in Action), she strives to put her compassion into action. When Surinder joined AGI in 2009 as program manager she'd served as volunteer and grant writer for Kansas-based nonprofits, so it felt like a natural continuation of her work. In her role at AGI, she pulls from a diverse background, including being a UK expat, 10 years in the financial industry in Texas, and being fluent in Punjabi. After dedicating nine years to AGI, Surinder was appointed Executive Director.
For 12 years, Cody worked as a case manager for adults with physical disabilities. As rewarding as the work was, she decided to pursue a new degree in accounting. After graduating in 2014, she joined AGI as our part-time bookkeeper. She loves being able to work as an accountant for a nonprofit, because she continues to make a difference in the world, even while balancing spreadsheets.
From the time Krystal was little, she has been involved in charitable work. She has helped give away thousands of dollars in clothing and food from a local distribution center and has volunteered at numerous charities throughout the years. It brings her great satisfaction to be able to help others. After graduating from Wichita State University in May of 2017, she looked for a job where she could make a difference. That is what led her to AGI. Krystal is currently studying to earn her master's degree in Business Administration with a Marketing concentration from Wichita State.
Program Development Director
From a young age, Linnea has had an interest in serving people in need. She has dedicated hundreds of hours to volunteering with nonprofit organizations across the US, England, Uganda, and Thailand, and plans to spend her life in service to others. Linnea initially joined the AGI family as an AmeriCorps VISTA member after graduating with a BA in International Studies from Newman University. She now works as AGI’s Program Development Director and is earning a master’s degree in Nonprofit Management & Philanthropy from Bay Path University.
Maria Jacobia started volunteering with Alternative Gifts many years ago assisting with gift markets. She has been an active volunteer for about 3 other local non-profits also. Maria went to Manchester College for a couple of years before she began working with an organization called “On Earth Peace” in New Windsor, MD, from there she joined the Brethren Volunteer Service where she served with Habitat for Humanity in Americus, GA. After eventually settling in Wichita, Maria has remained a selfless volunteer, giving her time and energy to our local community. She joined the AGI staff team as Market Facilitator 3 years ago.
